Building of the Historical museum of D.I. Javornitsky is a monument of architecture of national value. The historical museum was founded in 1849 as “Museum of antiquities of Ekaterinoslavsky province”. Formation and museum development is closely connected with the name of academician Dmitry Ivanovicha Javornitsky, he was the director of the museum more than 30 years since 1902. The modern building of a museum has been built in 1905. In the mid-seventies the museum has been reconstructed (the diorama "Fight for Dnepr" was built, the areas, and an exposition were considerably expanded). Kodakskaya Krepost (Kodak Fortress) was built in 1635 by Polish kingdom, for suppression of Zaporozhye Cossacks and in order to prevent to peasants to join to Cossacks. Some of historians suppose it has been the beginning of the city; however, some of historians suppose that Starie Kodaki have existed before). The fortress did not become completely Polish: it was won practically at once. The remains of the fortress are visible till now. There is a project of restoration of the fortress and creation on its basis of the tourist centre - park-museum.
Roman Catholic church of St. Nikolay in Dneprodzerzhinsk, (Dnepropetrovsk region) was opened in 1897. It is one of few escaped Rome-Catholic temples in the eastern part of Ukraine. Roman Catholic church of St. Nikolay was built by request of the Polish community of workers of Dneprovsky factory. It was built of yellow Kiev brick. Building proceeded more than two years and has come to the end in 1897. Five hundred parishioners could visit a church simultaneously. Consecration of the Kamensk church was on September, 25th, 1905. On December, 1st, 1929 there was a decision of presidium of District executive committee of Ukraine to close in Kamensk an orthodox cathedral, a church, a synagogue and a Lutheran church. According to the same decision in the confiscated premises of the church was decided to open the Polish club. In Soviet period in Roman Catholic church of St. Nikolay the military registration and enlistment office, a car wash and other establishments took place. In 1990 the Dneprodzerzhinsk City Council had been created initiative group on rescue of Roman Catholic church of St. Nikolay. Dnepropetrovsk Embankment named after V. I. Lenin lasts along the right river bank of Dnieper, from the west on the southeast more than for 23 km. The Embankment is especially beautiful in the central part between bridges: Amur and Meref-Kherson. Walking along the renewed Dnepropetrovsk Embankment, you can see huge set of flowers and greenery. In the central part of the Embankment, close to the water, there is a wide terrace. On the terrace it is possible to have a rest from city noise and heat in hot summer day, under umbrellas of a summer cafe, to fish and just to walk. The Embankment is especially beautiful in the evening. There new modern lamps are established.
Oktyabr'skaya square in Dnepropetrovsk is a part of a historic-architectural park complex. Potyomkin's architects have designed the Sobornaya square as the centre of the imperial city, with palaces and a grandiose cathedral. In the middle of 19 centuries the Preobrazhenskiy cathedral has been hardly constructed. The area as a whole was built up only in hundred years. The cathedral square was renamed by Bolsheviks in the Oktyabr'skaya square. Now the Oktyabr'skaya square and is a place where the main cultural and memorial constructions of Dnepropetrovsk are located. On the Oktyabr'skaya square the Historical museum, the former museum named after Pol is located. Long time Dmitry Ivanovich Javornitsky was its permanent director, the monument to him is near the museum. Near the museum Scythian stone images are exhibited. In a square near the museum a monument to Lomonosov, Diorama “Fight for Dnieper” are. Behind the museum the Preobrazhenskiy cathedral which was initially projected as the greatest temple of empire is located. Near to the cathedral a milestone is. Svyato-Troickii Kafedral'nyi sobor was constructed at the place of the first city church in honor of the Kazan icon Bojiei Materi (Jesus’ Mother). The small wooden church was consecrated on January, 15th, 1791, in 40 years has decayed and city merchans addressed to the Petersburg architects of Sharlemanju - Bode L.I. and Viskonti P. I. They designed Uspensky church. In 1837 a place for the new temple was consecrated. In 1934 the temple has been closed and transformed into a warehouse, and was opened for parishioners in 1942. Nowadays restoration works begun in 1956 and has got special carefulness, thoroughness and scope. At cathedral walls burial places of diocesan bishops, deans, and founders of a temple are. In the cathedral there are relics: an icon of the Sacred Trinity with a particle of the oak of Mamre; an icon “the Crying Savior”; icons of Bojiei Materi "Iversky", "Kazan", and “Axion Estin”, "Samara"; two Crosses with relicts - particles of hallows of the sacred esteemed in Orthodoxy. Ancient relics are carefully saved up in the cathedral: an iconostasis of the Kazan church and a tomb from the Piously-Nikolaev (Bryansk) cathedral. The most remarkable construction of Ekaterinoslava(Dnepropetrovsk) of an epoch of classicism is Preobrajenskii sobor, topped a place of the foundation of the city. The project of the cathedral was developed and confirmed in 1786, but wasn’t carried out. It was built later; features of construction of an interior of the construction and graphic addition in many respects remind images of interiors of the Troitsk cathedral of the Aleksandro-Neva monastery, executed by painter F.Danilov, he was Ogaryov's colleague on building of the Petersburg cathedral. From 1930 to 1988 services in the Cathedral were not made. From 1975 to 1988 in the temple the religion and atheism museum took place. Today divine services and occasional religious rites in the cathedral are made daily. Patron saint's day is in the day of Preobrazhenija Gospodnja, on August, 19th. Botanical garden of the Dnepropetrovsk national university was organized in 1931 in highland part of the city on the right high coast of Dnieper. The professor managing chair of physiology of plants of O.V.Rejngard was the founder and the first director of a garden Collection fund of plants of the botanical garden is more than 3 thousand kinds, versions, forms and grades among which there are the plants of the Red book of Europe, Ukraine, and the plants which are under the threat of disappearance. This is invaluable national property. The botanical garden occupies the space of 27,2 hectares. Its structure includes six laboratories - dendrology, floriculture, tropical and subtropical plants, fruit growing, industrial and seed which primary goals is preservation and replenishments of collection fund, acclimatization of introduced plants, working out of methods of their reproduction and restoration.
Monastyrskii (Monastic) Island is on Dnieper in Dnepropetrovsk. Territorially the island is a part of the Central recreation park named after T. G. Shevchenko. For the first time the island is mentioned in 1880 in work of the bishop of Feodosia “Materials for the historical-statistical description of the Ekaterinoslav diocese”, as the most northern point where Andrey Pervozvanny has reached in his mission. The name "Monastyrskii" the has been given to the island because of ostensibly existing Byzantian monastery based in IX century. With other part of thecity, the island is connected by a rope-way, and the foot bridge. In 1958 on island T. G.Shevchenko's monument - one of the greatest in Ukraine was established. In 1999 on northern part of the island the orthodox temple of Sacred Nikolay's is located.
