Pervyi gorodskoi prud (the first city pond) is located in the Cherbakov Park. It performed the function of a water basin of Juzovsky metal works.
It and the Second city pond have been created on the river Skoromoshina (Bahmutka) when water from a water basin on the river Kalmius has ceased to suffice the factory. The capacity of the First city pond at creation was one million cubic meters. The area of a water surface makes now about 32 hectares.
On the western coast a boat station of the city garden is located today. Also townspeople spend at the bank of the pond hot summer days. The bridge over the First city pond has appeared in days of the Great Patriotic War. At first it was the pontoon bridge established by sappers of the Soviet army, then it was replaced with the wooden bridge on stationary support, and in the late fifties replaced with reinforced concrete one. This bridge is pedestrian; its length is 330 meters, width - 6 meters. From Universitetskaya St. it is framed with two pylons which are executed in the form of arbours.

Reconstructed part of quay of the river Kalmius around the Constitution square has been opened in the centre of Donetsk. It has been named “Kazatskaya naberezhnaya” (Cossack quay).
During the spent recovery work on the quay the rest zone in the centre of Donetsk has been repaired. There the city beach has been opened.

Beach located on the Quay between the of Il'icha avenue and Shevchenko parkway on the river Kal'mius. It is good not only for swimming, but also for walks, and for jogs. Quays on the western coast of the Kalmius water basin are especially well equipped.

Another place for rest of Donetsk townspeople is embankment between Shevchenko Avenue and Mira Avenue. It is equipped with all necessary for having good rest on a beach.
