Evpatoria is a seaside city - resort in Crimea. The population the city is about 106.5 thousand persons, in a summer the number of people in the city increases. Every year in Evpatoria come about 300-400 thousands person for rest and treatment.

The modern coat of arms of Evpatoria repeats the historical one, authorized on the 17th of November of 1844: it is a board divided vertically lengthways. On the right green field a gold ram head is, on the left - red field the black snake twisting a silver staff, drinks from a black bowl is.

The gold ram head shows convenience of Tarhan place for cultivation of sheep, and also takes into account historical features of region of Evpatoria, during ancient times it has been populated with the Scythian tribes using in their symbolic so-called “Scythian animal style”.
The symbol of the ram means validity, will, ambition and optimism. The black snake twisting a silver staff, drinks from a black bowl is an emblem of medicine, symbolizes well-known medical dirties, and characterizes Evpatoria as a city - resort.
Green color in heraldry symbolizes hope, a prosperity, will, pleasure. Red color is an attribute of magnanimity, boldness, courage and love. Gold symbolizes aspiration to luxury and riches. Silver means cleanliness and innocence, and niello - humility and law-abiding.
Flag of the city of Evpatoria represents a rectangular panel of three incorporated multi-colored strips, top - green - and bottom – red. In the center of an average strip on a yellow background the coat of arms of Evpatoria is represented.

The territory of Evpatoria region includes settlements Zaozyornoe, Novoozyornoe and Mirniy. The population of region is more than 120000 persons.

Evpatoria is located in a steppe northwest part of Crimea. The city is stretched for 14-kilometer along the Kalamitskiy gulf. Golden sand, pure and soft, transparent water of the sea, a flat bottom of a gulf have made Evpatoria beaches one of the best in Crimea.

The Evpatoria history is more than 2,5 thousand years. Archeological finds in the territory of Evpatoria have shows, that on territory of the modern city and in its vicinities people lived in 3rd millennium B.C. Tauris, Cimmerinas, and later - Greeks lived there. The ancient name of city was Kerkintida has been given to the city by Greeks. The rests of the predecessor of Evpatoria were kept in the central part of city (on quay near to Quarantine cape). It was a large shopping center years ago. During wars with Scythians Kerkintida several times got under authority of Scythian lords. The city perished, presumably in II-III centuries B.C.

The city has a regular planning in the south, the north, and the West. In a southwest the resort area is located. In the east the old city having a planning typical for east cities with an interlacing of small curves streets is located. Some of houses in this area are more than 300 years old. In the West of city – the lake Moynaki is, in the east – the lake Sasyk is. In northern part - the industrial enterprises are located.

Russians make the majority of the population of the city. According to the data of Ukranina population censuses of 2001 in the population of area were present the following ethnic groups:Russian - 64,9 %, Ukrainians - 23,3 %, Crimean Tatars - 6,9 %, Byelorussians - 1,5 %, Poles - 0,2 %, Moldavians - 0,2 %.

From natural medical factors it is necessary to note unique dirties and brine, sea and mineral waters, air and the sun, sand and curative plants.
In vicinities of city - to the east and to the West from it - lake-estuaries Moynaki, Otar- Moynakskoe, Yali-Moynakskoe, Sasyk-Sivashskoe are scattered. The medical dirties and water of these lakes, concentrated a hydrochloric solution - brine possess big treatment properties.
The first source of Evpatoria mineral water has been opened by complex hydro-geological expedition on the territory of Moynaki mud baths in 1959. It is water chloride–natrium alkalescent reaction with temperature 39 °C. Later sources of thermal mineral water were open in territory of sanatorium of the Ministry of Defense and the Central resort polyclinic.

In the city boundaries and in adjoining places on a coastal line are located numerous fine sandy beaches. To the east from the city sand of beaches is larger, fine semiprecious stones could be founded. To the West from the city lasts a turn of boarding houses, sanatoria and pioneer camps.

The soft climate, without sharp fluctuations of temperature, makes local places especially favorable for health of the human being. Evpatoria is one of the most solar cities. On the average the sun shines 258 days in a year, in especially solar years of 289 days. The shallow coastal strip of a gulf gets warm well, and consequently the sea here is very warm. In the middle of summer, in July - August, the temperature of water changes in from +23 °C up to +26 °C. On the average the temperature of water from May till October changes from +15 °C up to 22 °C. In the winter there are warm, frequently without frosts days. Mid-annual temperature of air is about +11 °C.
The best rest in Evpatoria is in the autumn, at the end of the so-called "velvet" season when inflow of health-resort visitors decreases.

In Evpatoria today there are no large industrial enterprises, the bread-baking complex, milk plant, winery and other small enterprises, basically food and processing work. Near to city the National control centre and tests of space vehicle is located.

The communication with other cities of Crimea is carried out by buses, train, there is a sea communication. In city there is a tram (single-track and double-track systems), the bus, a fixed-route taxi, as tourist exotic - trishaw.
