STONE TOMB - SACRAL TERRITORY ANCIENT
Stone Tomb is the natural formation. It was formed presumably in this way: monolithic sandy shallow of the so-called Sarmatian Sea has slipped on sand in the deepening which has been hollow out up by the river, and on its way has broken up into set of boulders. It is the unique formation in the world. There are about three thousand of plates on three hectares of its area. Much of plates are covered with ancient pictures. It is a real Underground gallery. It not only a monument of geological epoch, but also the illustration of a life of the tribes which have been taking place at this district and have left invaluable petroglyphs. There are pictures of the Paleolithic and the Mesolithic epochs, Copper-Bronze ages and the Middle Ages. The stylized figures of deers, bulls, fishes, and human beings tell us about the ancient person. That up to rock drawings of the Stone Tomb researchers have determined: their chronology are from XVI-XIII centuries B.C. up to X-XII centuries A.D. It is possible to learn the found pictures in a museum.
POPOVs MANOR
Pavel Popov has left about itself memory as one of the most talented military leaders. In a history of empire he was the unique general who for commander talent and personal bravery was awarded within half-year with two Crosses of St. George and with a gold sword with brilliants. Paul Vasilyevichas name is cut in the Georgievskij hall of the Kremlin. An outstanding career on a military field was waiting for him, but unexpectedly for everyone Popov sent in his papers, in spite of the fact that Nikolay I promised him Field-Marshal's baton. Most likely, the reason of it was love. The mutual sympathy between the young general and a beauty Great Georgian princess Elena Eristovoj (Eristavi), was so strong, that even father of the bride - fierce the foe of Russia - did not oppose to happiness of the young couple. The spouses had located in Vasilyevka where Paul Vasilyevich decided to devote itself to a raising of his southern manors. And on this field he reached as great successes, as in military field. Popov put agriculture on a scientific basis, was fond of gardening, and planted the vineyards first in this territory. The territory of the manor which was settled down on a high hill, had been framed by the graceful fence reminding a rampart. Its components were three wings, watchtower and a stable which facade represented a fragmentary copy of the Moscow Kremlin. In the center of manor the majestic palace in perimeter 42 on 45 meters was placed. All complex, had been building more than 5 years, it had been built by local masters with local materials. In 1989 a cultural - historical society =Heritage= started to reconstruct the manor, one of active workers have been retired officer Vladimir Meshkov, today he is the director of the historical-architectural reserve Popov's manor.
M.GORKY CITY RECREATION PARK
The history Melitopol city park began in 1927. The main forest warden of the Staro-Berdyansk forest area Ivan Alekseev made the project of park and given saplings for planting. In 1960 renewed the Melitopol Park has got the status of the monument of landscape gardening. There are over 50 kinds of trees and about 30 kinds of bushes in the park. There is Pedunculate Oak, Black locust, Sophora, Gleditsia triacanthos, Ailanthus,various kinds of maples, birches, a poplar, a pine, a linden, chestnut, Caragana arborescens, Ligustrum vulgare, various kinds of a lilac, a juniper, Mock-orange and many others. On avenues of the park there are trees - old residents about 80 years old. The Melitopol Park is fine on any season There is the museum of the park history, a dance pavilion, caf?, zoo-exhibition, and billiard in the Melitopol Park. In 2005 and 2006 the Melitopol Park was included in number of parks of Ukraine which are awarded with "the Gold tree" for successful activity.
TERPENyEVSKIE SPRINGS
Terpenyevskiy oak is the successor of the well-known Zaporozhye oak giant - long-liver. In territory of a kindergarten in the village Terpenye near Melitopol grows an oak - ancient and mighty. Old residents assure, that to the oak is more than four hundred years old. His circle of a trunk is 5 m and 23 sm. In opinion of experts, after the dried out of 700-years Zaporozhye oak, this oak is the most ancient in area. The part of the village Terpenye Melitopol is on "mountain" - it height is about 45 meters above sea level. At its top from ground gush out some springs with cold and extraordinary tasteful water. Spring water flows down between stones in small natural lake. Local residents assure that water from this spring has curative properties because of presence of ions of silver. Old residents tell that Doukhobors who have arrived for settlement on Molochnie vodi searched for a place with good potable water. Also they have found the springs generated by powerful water-bearing level of the Sarmatian period. This water have been hidden during many centuries in underground, water gradually dissolved limestone, washing away caves, paths, natural shafts, and has escaped from the ground, and formed among steppes a blossoming oasis. In the beginning of Great Domestic war in park near springs the infectious hospital overflown with dysenteric patients has stopped. Military physicians then spoke that water from a source was wonder-working and helped many soldiers to overcome tier illness. In the middle of 90th years at a hill have appeared monks who began to make better springs. They gave names of Saints to springs, consecrated springs with public prayers. It is considered, that in Nikolay Ugodnika's spring is "dead water", it stops development of diseases. In a spring of the Virgin is the "water of life" promoting treatment from mental illnesses. With the help of a biolocation Melitopol scientists have revealed very powerful positive power of this water. Now under the initiative of the local village head man the territory around of springs is declared reserved. So there is a monument of park art "Salubrious springs".
